Myron Michayluk

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Myron Eugene Michayluk announces his peaceful passing at home in Medicine Hat on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at the age of 73 years.

Myron was born the middle of three children to Eugene and Elsie Michayluk. on January 5, 1953 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. He spent his early years in Davidson, Saskatchewan before the family settled in Hafford when he was about five years old.

In 1977 Myron moved to Rosetown, Saskatchewan where he became a dedicated and active member of the community. He devoted his heart and soul to supporting individuals with disabilities through his work at the Wheatland Regional Centre. He also served the Town of Rosetown for many years as an alderman, generously giving his time and energy to help make his community a better place.

A talented musician, Myron played bass guitar with the Night Riders Band and loved sharing music with others. Much of Myron's free time was spent at Lake Diefenbaker with family and friends, where he developed a lifelong love of fishing and watersports. He was also an avid cribbage player who took great pride in teaching his children the art of pegging points. His generous spirit and wonderful sense of humor earned him many lifelong friendships

Myron married Rita in March of 2006. Throughout the years Myron and Rita lived in several communities across Alberta. Wherever life took them Myron stayed busy cooking, tackling home improvement projects and putting his remarkable construction skills to work. He could build or fix just about anything.

Myron had a passion for cooking and loved bringing people together around the table. He hosted many Ukrainian Christmas dinners for friends in Rosetown and even operated a food stand during Rosetown Jamboree Days called Baba Kay's Perogies. Later when his granddaughter Ariana was old enough, he found great joy in teaching her how to bake. Together they happily made a mess in the kitchen; much to Rita's amusement, as they proudly wore their matching chef hats.

Myron was one of the most generous people anyone could hope to meet. He lived by the words:

"You have not lived today until you have done something for someone who can never repay you." — John Bunyan

He lived that philosophy every day through his kindness, generosity and willingness to help others without expecting anything in return.

Myron is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Rita; children, Amanda (Dale), Leanne, Darryl (Nicole), Michelle (“Steve-Oh”) and JJ;  cherished granddaughter, Ariana; sister, Darc (Jim); brother, Tim (Audrey) as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Eugene and Elsie Michayluk.

Myron's quick wit, straightforward nature, generous heart and unmistakable no-nonsense attitude will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched through his compassion, friendship and unwavering willingness to lend a helping hand.

A memorial service will be held in Vermilion, Alberta, on August 6th at 11:00 am at Reflections Funeral Home. A luncheon will follow at 12:00 pm with interment at the Saint Columba Catholic cemetery in Clandonald, Alberta at 2:00 pm.
