Lennard Mandel

Lennard Mandel, of Lethbridge, was born on January 29, 1964, the fourth child of Isaac and Katherine Mandel. 

He was predeceased by his parents and is survived by his siblings, Mike (Noreen) Mandel, Delilah (Dennis) Traber, Rita (Don) Fruson, Gloria (Severin) Habetler, and Tobias Mandel.

Lennard grew up on his parents’ farm between Fort Macleod and Monarch. With cousins living only a mile away, his childhood was filled with many adventures and memories. He attended school in Fort Macleod.

From a very young age, Lennard was mechanically inclined and endlessly curious about how things worked. At just four years old, he wondered what would happen if he hammered a nail into a tire. He soon found out, but not before all four of his dad’s tires had nails in them. That curiosity stayed with him throughout his life. He loved taking things apart, learning how they worked, and finding ways to repair and improve them.

Lennard married Amanda Klippenstien in 1980, and together they had three children: Johnathan, Hailey, and Lacey. During those years, he worked in commercial construction. Some years later, Lennard and Amanda went their separate ways and divorced.

In 1994, Lennard married Susan Wauters, and together they had two sons: Daniel and Dawson. Susan and Lennard were later separated.

Lennard had a brilliant mind and an incredible ability to retain information, which allowed him to problem-solve in remarkable ways. As a self-taught agricultural engineer, he used his knowledge, creativity, and photographic memory to open his business, Mandel Environmental Solutions. Through his work, he designed, engineered, and built feeding and ventilation systems for livestock barns.

What began as a hobby tinkering with hydronic heating systems eventually led Lennard to become one of the first to implement them in Canada. Many of his main clients were from Colonies, and through his work, he developed strong and lasting friendships with many of them. He was passionate not only about his work, but also about the people he met along the way.

Lennard passed his knowledge on to his son Dawson, who now operates his own business doing the same kind of work. This was a meaningful part of Lennard’s legacy.

Len passed away on July 2, 2026, at the Medicine Hat Hospital at the age of 62, after battling many health issues. Shortly before his passing, Len told his sisters that he could not wait to see his mom and dad, along with numerous aunties, uncles, and cousins, listing each of them by name.

Len is now fully restored because of the great price Jesus paid for us. He will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by many.
