Joan DeFord

Joan Therese DeFord passed away on March 31, 2026, in Edmonton, Alberta at the age of 76 years.

She will be lovingly remembered by her partner Jim Kearney of Edmonton; children Shawn (Laurie) Simonet of Vermilion and Joanne (Rick) Kalynchuk of Elk Point; grandchildren Jenna, Aimee, Chloe, Kale, Tyler, Jordan, Sydney (Brenden), and Makenna; great grandchildren Walker, Raylyn, and Syrus; siblings Ivy Dyjur of Clandonald, Anthony (Sylvia) DeFord of Edmonton, Mary (Ken) Manweiler of St. Albert, and Barry (Cathy) DeFord of Edmonton; sisters in law Simone DeFord of Stony Plain and Carolyn DeFord of Vermilion; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Predeceased by her father Dever DeFord; mother Mary DeFord; siblings Eugene (Frances) DeFord, Duane DeFord, Dever DeFord, and Bernice (Dale) Batdorf; brother in law Henry Dyjur; and grandson John James Simonet.

 Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Columba Catholic Church, 313 Centre St, Clandonald.
