Freddie Grune died on November 2, 2022 in Lloydminster at the age of 74 years.
He was born to parents Goldschiemer & Antonia Grune on January 3, 1948 in Salzgitter, Germany. Fred moved to Holland (Nederland) when he was 3 and considered it his homeland. In July 1969, he moved to Canada with his first wife, just a few days after their wedding, landing in Winnipeg. With no relatives or friends, and not speaking any English, Freddie was set about becoming “Canadian,“ which he did.
Fred is lovingly remembered by his wife Darlene; daughters Simone Heck and Patricia (Don Reid) Lamnek; stepchildren Brandy (Jason) Rushton and Jerratt Schulz; grandchildren Brett (Meghan) Berrecloth, Cole (Brianna) Berrecloth, Kailey Perry (Jonathan Verseveldt), Matthew Herber, Victoria Heck, Dakota Heck, Emily Lamnek, Montana Rushton, and Colby Rushton; great grandchildren Tyler, Nicole, Olivia, Daxton, and Lincoln; first wife Sara Grune; brothers Edgar (Anna Marie) and Wolf (Elizabeth); sister Toos Westmaas – Grune (Hennie); sister in law Bep; as well numerous other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his daughter Angela Grune; second wife Bonnie Kohler; parents Goldschiemer & Antonia; brother Will; sister Adie Van Graaferland-Grune; and brother in law Lane Westmaas.
A Celebration of Life is being held on Saturday, November 19, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Lone Rock Hall, located on Boundary Road, Lone Rock, Saskatchewan.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the SPCA or The Olive Tree.
